Region 15 State Support Team is recruiting a full-time consultant with expertise and a deep understanding of special education and school improvement. SST15 provides professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and disseminates information to school districts and parents in Lawrence, Pike, Scioto, and Ross Counties. A successful candidate must have a valid Ohio Administrative License, excellent customer service skills, be outcome oriented, strong attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities: As a member of the Region 15 State Support Team, the SST Consultant will implement the full scope of work associated with the State Support Team ODEW Grant Agreement, adhering to processes and tools, Ross Pike ESD Policies and Procedures, and Region 15 SST practices.
Responsibilities include but will not be limited to creating and leading professional development, providing technical assistance and coaching services to build the capacity of local district and related education agencies to engage in systemic and sustainable improvement, impacting educational outcomes for all students pre-K to age 22 throughout Region 15.
The Consultant will be expected to remain current with research, and evidence-based practice; to participate in ongoing professional growth activities; and to collaborate with SST colleagues, district, and agency partners, and with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
Qualifications: Applicant must hold an Ohio Administrative License or commit to an accredited administrative program to fulfill Ohio’s Administrative Requirements outlined in law to be completed within a specified timeline; have expertise in special education, and/or an appropriate related field or evidence of equivalency; have 3 to 5 years of successful teaching, school improvement planning, special education administration and/or related experience.
Expertise and significant leadership experience in the following: Implementation of IDEA and ESSA; Data analysis, including data-based decision making with a thorough understanding of Ohio’s Accountability System and Special Education Profiles and Ratings; Use of the Ohio Improvement Process for implementation and monitoring for improvement efforts; Use of EDSteps; Understand Focused planning, including use of strategic problem solving; Understanding of Multi-tiered System of Supports; Understanding of early warning indicators to include attendance, behavior and course performance (academic) supports; Understanding of evidence based instructional practices, particularly explicit instruction; Understanding of Universal Design for Learning and Differentiation; Expertise in Delivery of high quality professional development/technical assistance; Have Assessment literacy; Knowledge of Family and Community Engagement; Knowledge of Secondary Transition and Culturally responsive practices; Have a basic awareness of early language and literacy. given to expertise in special education and educational administration.
