Region 15 State Support Team is recruiting a full-time Early Learning School Readiness and Preschool Special Education Expert Consultant. SST15 provides professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and disseminates information to school districts and parents in Lawrence, Pike, Scioto, and Ross Counties. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be outcome oriented, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail. Position is guaranteed funding through the current biennium.

Responsibilities: As a member of the Region 15 State Support Team, the SST Consultant will implement the full scope of work Early Learning School Readiness and Preschool Special Education work associated with the State Support Team ODE Grant Agreement, adhering to ODE processes and tools, Ross Pike ESD Policies and Procedures, and Region 15 SST practices. Provision for this work includes early learning school readiness/ preschool special education professional development, technical assistance and coaching for school district personnel, other early childhood community providers and parents with the goal of building the capacity of local and related education agencies and their educators to engage in systemic and sustainable improvement that impacts outcomes for all students, especially those ages three to grade three.

The Consultant will be expected to remain current with research and evidence-based practice; to participate in ongoing professional growth activities; attend local, regional, and state level meetings/trainings; and to collaborate with SST colleagues, district, and agency partners, and with the Ohio Department of Education.

Qualifications: Applicant must hold an Ohio Administrative License or commit to an accredited administrative program to fulfill Ohio’s Administrative Requirements outlined in law to be completed within a specified timeline to acquire expertise in the area for which an employee has primary responsibility (i.e., education, early childhood education, special education, education administration and/or appropriate related field or evidence of equivalency); Have at minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful classroom teaching, school improvement planning, special education administration or related experience; A license appropriate to the individual’s profession (special education administration, general education, intervention specialist, early learning (age 3 to grade 3), related services); Have at least 3 years of experience working as an early childhood consultant for an SST; and have expertise and/or significant leadership experience in several of the following areas: IDEA, LRE Itinerate Services, Child Outcome Summary, Part C to B Transition, ETR/IEP writing processes, Play Based Assessment, Early Childhood Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports, training/onboarding of Preschool Supervisors, Operating Standards for Children with Disabilities; Evidence-based processes and instructional practices, including development and implementation of academic and behavior supports; Evidence-based emergent and early language and literacy development grounded in the science of reading; Universal Design for Learning and differentiated instruction; Coaching and consultation skills; Implementation and monitoring of improvement efforts; Culturally responsive and equitable systems and practices; Delivery of high-quality professional learning and technical assistance; Early childhood education, preschool special education, early education preschool to grade 3, or other early childhood settings such as Head Start or community-based childcare; Special designed instruction and provision of free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment (special education); and/or Parent, family and community engagement; Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance; Experience with coaching and consulting skills; Experience with culturally responsive practices; Knowledge of how to analyze and use student data and adult implementation data; experience with working with administrators; Experience facilitating or participating in the Ohio Improvement Process; experience designing and implementing district-wide or school-wide multi-tiered system of supports; Preference will be given to individuals with substantial literacy experience aligned to the Ohio Department of Education’s vision for literacy achievement and administrative experience.
